Cebu city is the capital city of the province of Cebu and is the “Queen City of the South”, being the center of Metro Cebu, the second most populous metropolitan area after Metro Manila. Cebu is situated in the Visayan area of the Philippines which is the middle part of the country. Cebu is a first income class highly urbanized city, and according to the 2010 census, it has a population of 866,171 – making it the fifth most populated city in the country. Cebu City is surrounded by Talisay City, Mandaue City and Lapulapu City, making up a population of about 3.5 mill. people.
Cebu is known for its beautiful islands with white sand beaches. It is also known for tourist activities like diving, whale watching, island hopping and more.
The city is readily accessible by air via the Mactan-Cebu International Airport located in Lapu-Lapu City. Mass transportation throughout the city and the metropolitan itself is provided by jeepneys, busses and taxis. There are also motorcycle taxis available in some places which makes it easier to travel where busses and jeepneys do not go.
