Chinese Volunteers Help Fire Victims

A few months ago, more than 300 households were misplaced due to a big fire which happened at Sun Valley, V.Rama Road, Cebu. In these households, there are around 2 to 3 kids in each family.

After the fire, they had to stay in the local gymnasium without the basic supplies. One of our Alternative Learning System (ALS) student asked Adi, our community center leader if we could do a feeding at the gymnasium for the kids. And we are more than willing to do it. It was a perfect time since we had ten (10) Chinese volunteers who sponsored and prepared the meal for the children.

So we went there and prepared a meal for 500 children and seniors. Some of the Chinese volunteers also read books to entertain the kids while they are waiting for the “lugaw” (rice and vegetable porridge) to be ready.

The fire victims were happy to see people from different countries reaching out to help them. The kids were full of smiles while playing with the Chinese volunteers.

We may see the kids and parents smiling, but we know that there is the feeling of worry deep inside. We hoped that this effort gave a glimpse of hope to these families. To all our volunteers who reached out and made this possible, THANK YOU very much.

Together we can make a difference!
