CHEER UP WITH NEW BOOKS AT THE CHILDREN’S LIBRARY

At the end of 2018, we received books from the U.S. for our centers. It was awesome.

On January 26 of this year, we picked up books from the port. These books were sent by Cheer Up Mission America through our friend Ken Landriault.

Gabe, Marie, Shane, Rey and Jacko went to the port early to pick up the boxes of books.

Ken, aka “Smiley” visited the Philippines just after typhoon Yolanda or Haiyan hit in November 2013. He brought happiness and cheer to countless kids and families who were the victims of the typhoon together with Josiah Lorenzo, also a clown.

They visited areas in the north area of Cebu Island and also visited Tacloban that was the hardest hit. He saw the devastation and met teachers, people who lost their workplaces, and kids who didn’t have a proper school to go to. This triggered his desire to supply the kids and teens with new educational books.

So a whole 40-feet container filled with books arrived. One pallet of books in the container is for our centers and the rest are to be sent to Tacloban.

The kids were very happy to receive these because aside from books there were also educational toys and school materials which they can use in learning while they are at the Children’s Library or Family Care Center.

40-feet container full of books arrived from New Orleans, USA.

We are very thankful for all the effort Ken and team put into gathering, packing and shipping this container from New Orleans to Cebu. Truly, it’s a job well done! This will surely make a difference for all the children who will receive it. Thank you for being a channel of hope and for making a difference with us.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
